What the session covers
The WSIS process turns 20 this year, and this panel asks what comes next. Panelists will review the outcomes of the April 2026 CSTD meeting and the WSIS+20 outcome document (UN Resolution A/RES/80/173), and what these mean for the Global Digital Compact and its implementation roadmap: how intergovernmental decisions translate into coordinated action at the global, regional, and national levels, and who tracks whether that progress holds.
The discussion will also address the IGF’s strengthened permanent mandate, the evolving IGF ecosystem, and the growing number of National and Regional IGFs, which bring together Member States, the technical community, civil society, and the private sector.
Internet Society Switzerland is contributing Markus Kummer, our IGF Expert, to this panel.
