ISOC-CH supports referendum on the new surveillance law (BÜPF/LSCPT)

The BÜPF (Bundesgesetz betreffend die Überwachung des Post- und Fernmeldeverkehrs / Federal Act on the Surveillance of Post and Telecommunications) was adopted by the National Parliament last Friday. ISOC-CH  strongly supports the decision to pursue a referendum on this law and has joined the BÜPF referendum committee.
The Referendum Committee is deeply concerned about the BÜPF as this new surveillance law mandates extensive scope, disproportionate data retention, and unnecessary vulnerabilities introduced via trojans.

The referendum committee has 100 days to collect the 50’000 signatures necessary to enforce a popular vote on this new surveillance law. We count on your support and help in this. We will publish the signature forms in the next few days. Stay tuned!

Please find more information in the press release below (in German), as well as on the websites https://www.buepf.ch/ and http://www.stop-buepf.ch/.
