100th member of ISOC-CH

After only eight months in existence, the ISOC Switzerland Chapter welcomes already its 100th member. The lucky one to draw the number 100 is Andy Zbinden who works at Switch where he is responsible for Special Projects.

“The environment the Internet is in today gets more and more challenging, be it technologically, politically, or socially. I share ISOC’s vision ‘The Internet is for Everyone’, and I am interested in the future development of the Internet. ISOC has always been on my radar, and my employer has been an organizational member of ISOC for many years.” said Andy.

Since its foundation in April 2012, ISOC-CH has been blessed with a constant growth in its membership. Starting with 21 (founding) members on 22nd of April 2012, every month 10 new members have joined in average.

Initially, the vast majority of our members came from the Geneva area, where many International Organizations are home-based. In recent months most growth took place in the German Speaking part of Switzerland, mainly around Zurich and Bern: 33 members come from the canton of Geneva, 27 from Greater Zurich area, 14 from Bern region, ten from Vaud, and two from the Italian speaking part of Switzerland. Additionally, a few members are located abroad, typically in the neighboring countries living near the Swiss border.

We are happy to have arrived to the 100 members milestone and are looking forward for the growth to continue!

Merry Christmas!
